Tuition Fees and Living Expenses in Canada

There are ten provinces in Canada where international students can prosecute their studies.

Educational expenses are different in different provinces such as in Newfoundland it is $7,260 for under graduation and $1,896-3,549 for a post-graduation. In, Prince Edward Island, it is $7,510 for under graduation and $6,100 for post-graduation.

If you choose Nova Scotia it is $8,520-12,480 for under graduation and $4,329-15,000 for post-graduation. In Ontario it is $6,900-16,204 for under graduation and $5,432-29,000 for post-graduation. And, in British Columbia it is $4,462-15,870 for under graduation and $2,272-$17,499 for post-graduation.

These are some of the provinces where UG & PG Studies are conducted. Apart from these, there are other provinces where you can take up your courses such as in New Brunswick, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

On an average basis, a student needs to spend at least C$12,000 (approx.) to as high as C$42,000 (~US$32,000) per year. Also, an international student would need to pay the application fees ranging between $50 to $150 per University, compulsory fees for student services, Score Reporting fees (GMAT, GRE, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS) and processing fees for a study permit.

For a university student who has not yet taken a first degree, the average tuition fees in Canada for international undergraduate students start at about CA$12,000 per year. Arts and humanities courses are cheaper, but if a student wants to be an engineer or doctor it is very high.

If you want to study MBA then the approx. cost will be C$42,000 (~US$32,000) per year.

Living Cost

The average cost of living per month should be between $1000- $1500/month (varying between cities). Having an idea will help you plan your study in Canada.

Accommodation

For outsiders $350 a month to rent a room is the best option. You can also rent a larger apartment for $2,000.

Living costs are more expensive in the larger cities. If you would like a cheaper option, you may consider living off-campus, School-Provided Homestays. Don’t go for School-Provided Residence/Dormitory. It is very expensive.
